Another migration caravan left for the town of Shusha, which was liberated from occupation.

On 30 May, families temporarily living in hostels, sanatoriums, pioneer camps, unfinished and administrative buildings left Garadagh district of Baku city for Shusha, Report informs.

At this stage, 15 families comprising 57 persons are resettled to Shusha. Of these, 8 families (31 persons) lived in Baku, two (6 persons) - in Absheron district, as well as in Sumgayit (4 persons), Mingachevir (4), Barda (5), Oghuz (5) and Aghdam (2) districts.

So far, 105 families comprising 406 people have been provided permanent residence in Shusha.

Azerbaijan's ambitious Great Return program significantly advances the repopulation efforts in regions liberated from Armenian occupation. The initiative has already witnessed the successful resettlement of nearly 6,000 IDPs into five strategically developed settlements.

In 2024, the Azerbaijani government plans to revive at least 20 settlements to provide returning citizens with a safe and sustainable living environment. By the end of this year, the program aims to facilitate the reintegration of 20,000 former IDPs into territories, spanning five cities and 15 villages. The comprehensive master plans for over a hundred cities and villages within the liberated territories have already been approved.

As the Great Return program progresses towards its first phase completion by the end of 2026, it will reunite 140,000 displaced individuals with their ancestral lands.
