Armenia arrests five more people due to clashes near parliament

Armenian lawyer Ruben Melikyan has announced that people were arrested again due to the recent clashes near the parliament building proceeding from video recordings.
“Eight people were detained, and petitions for their arrest were filed in court. The petitions regarding five people were granted,” Caliber.Az reports citing Melikyan’s message on the social network.
The decisions on other three arrested people will be made on June 16.
The lawyer said that all those detained earlier were released on June 15.
“That is, the police officers detained absolutely innocent people,” he added.
Numerous protesters gathered in front of the parliament during Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's speech, calling for his resignation on June 12. The Armenian Interior Ministry reported that the police detained 42 rally participants. Clashes broke out between protesters and law enforcement officers.
Later, the Armenian police officers detained 98 rally participants near the parliament in Yerevan.
