Organisation of Turkic States to get Alisher Navoi int'l prize For strengthening regional ties
The Alisher Navoi International Prize will be awarded to the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in recognition of its remarkable contributions to promoting unity across the Turkic world.
This decision was announced on November 6 at the 11th meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers, which took place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Caliber.Az reports.
The prize was designed by “Element” company which crafted a unique symbol to represent the Alisher Navoi International Prize, awarded by the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States. The centre of the prize features an image of Alisher Navoi, surrounded by an intricate design symbolising wisdom and enlightenment.
The books positioned behind Navoi's image form a pattern that represents the Sun, signifying brightness and knowledge. An eight-pointed star along the prize's edges embodies the ideals of "Turkism" and "Turkic linguistics," reflecting the values Navoi championed throughout his life.
Founded in 2021 on the initiative of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Alisher Navoi International Prize honours individuals who have made distinguished contributions in science, culture, and the arts within the Turkic world.
In 2022, the award was presented for the first time to Kyrgyz writer Chinghiz Aitmatov, recognising his outstanding achievements in literature.
