Ambassador: Azerbaijan - Israel's gateway for export, import of goods to Central Asia
Azerbaijan is Israel's gateway for export and import of goods to Central Asian nations, Azerbaijani ambassador to Israel Mukhtar Mammadov has said.
“The landlocked Central Asian countries receive cargo through Azerbaijan,” Mammadov told Israeli media, according to Report.
He also emphasised that Israel has made a significant contribution to education in Azerbaijan.
“Over the past four years, we have collaborated with the ORT-Israel network to develop educational programmes in engineering and innovation. We have trained more than 200 teachers on the programmes. This academic year, about 150,000 Azerbaijani students are studying special programmes developed by us together with ORT. A delegation of ORT-Israel teachers has also recently arrived in Baku to train our teachers in science,” Mammadov noted.
“Moreover, we have established cooperation among universities. A few weeks ago, I was invited to the graduation ceremony at the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), where Azerbaijani students also received a bachelor's degree in computer science. This year, the Hebrew University also begins to accept students from Azerbaijan to study biotechnology,” the ambassador said.
“Azerbaijan and Israel are actively developing cooperation in the tourism sector,” Mammadov said, noting that 22,000 Israeli citizens visited Azerbaijan during the first eight months of 2023.
