Estonia-Azerbaijan relations advance on digital, trade fronts, ambassador says
Estonia is actively supporting Azerbaijani companies in the development of digital services, as bilateral trade and cooperation between the two nations continue to grow, Estonian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Väino Reinart, said during the “Central Baltic – Azerbaijan” business forum.
Speaking at the event, Reinart underscored Estonia’s commitment to fostering innovation and digital transformation in Azerbaijan, particularly in the context of shifting geopolitical dynamics and Azerbaijan’s emerging role as a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Estonia is actively supporting Azerbaijani companies and the government in developing digital services, which is becoming especially important in light of recent geopolitical changes and Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a bridge between Asia and Europe,” Reinart stated.
He noted that Estonia, along with Finland and Latvia, represents a successful model of regional integration — a model from which Azerbaijan can draw valuable insights as it deepens cooperation with its own neighbors. Despite the geographic distance between the Baltic states and the South Caucasus, Reinart emphasized the shared historical experiences of regaining independence, transitioning to market economies, and pursuing democratic development.
“Trade between Estonia and Azerbaijan is growing, supported by strong political ties, but the most important factors remain people-to-people relations and engagement, which form the foundation of long-term cooperation,” he added.
