Ambassador: Long live eternal friendship between Serbia, Azerbaijan

18 February 2025 19:46

Serbian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Dragan Vladisavljević has stated that diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia evolved into a strategic partnership during 28 years.

He made these remarks during an event dedicated to Serbia's Statehood Day, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"Since the establishment of our diplomatic ties 28 years ago, our bilateral relations have grown into a strategic partnership, within which we actively discuss and implement foreign policy initiatives of mutual interest," he said.

The ambassador highlighted that in recent years, political relations between Baku and Belgrade have been gaining momentum, accompanied by a strengthening of economic ties and an increase in trade turnover.

"In general, I believe that with each passing year of Serbia's statehood, we will celebrate with joy and even more intensive, meaningful cooperation and friendship with Azerbaijan," the ambassador emphasised.

In conclusion, the diplomat wished Serbia peace and prosperity, as well as the strengthening of friendly relations with Azerbaijan.

"I would like to wish Serbia peace and development, success and strength, and as many dear and sincere friends as possible, like Azerbaijan. Long live Serbia, and long live the eternal friendship between Serbia and Azerbaijan," the ambassador added.

Earlier, on February 14, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Serbian counterpart, Marko Djuric, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to discuss the future of bilateral ties.

The meeting focused on key aspects of the Azerbaijan-Serbia strategic partnership, including regional and global security issues.

Both ministers underscored the importance of high-level diplomatic engagements and the strong personal rapport between their countries’ leaders in strengthening cooperation.

Discussions covered a broad spectrum of sectors, including economy, energy, high technology, transportation, culture, humanitarian efforts, education, and tourism. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration in these areas.

The ministers also expressed appreciation for their countries’ mutual support for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within regional and international organizations.

In addition to these strategic discussions, the two diplomats addressed other matters of shared interest, reinforcing their commitment to deepening Azerbaijan-Serbia relations.
