Ambassador: UK Trade Envoy Lord Alderdice to visit Azerbaijan by year-end

Lord John Alderdice, a member of the British House of Lords and the UK Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asia, is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan before the end of 2025, British Ambassador to Baku Fergus Auld confirmed during the Baku Climate Week.

The ambassador noted that additional visits are planned in the coming months, though details remain confidential. These exchanges are expected to cover security and defence, trade and investment, education, and innovation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Ambassador Auld also highlighted a recent visit by UK Minister for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty, who met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership. Further high-level visits are anticipated under this framework.

Emphasising the strength of economic ties, Auld stated that the UK remains Azerbaijan’s largest foreign investor, with London committed to continuing investment flows, particularly in green energy and sustainable infrastructure.
