ANAMA head, Chinese envoy eye humanitarian demining

The chairman of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), Vugar Suleymanov, has met with China’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, to discuss ongoing cooperation in humanitarian demining. 

Suleymanov expressed appreciation for China’s financial contribution to demining operations in Azerbaijan, describing the support as a gesture of solidarity, Caliber.Az reports via ANAMA. 

Ambassador Lu stated that demining constitutes an important component of the broader strategic partnership between the two countries. She noted that one of the agreements signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April includes provisions for cooperation in humanitarian mine clearance, and that the recently allocated funding falls under this framework.

At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged documents confirming the allocation of the funds.
