Arab Parliament chief calls for expanded cooperation with Azerbaijan
The Arab world attaches considerable importance to its relationship with Azerbaijan and is keen to advance cooperation in key strategic sectors, including trade, energy, and logistics, President of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, said during an official visit to Baku.
Speaking at a meeting with Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, Al Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s interest in strengthening bilateral and multilateral engagement, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He underscored the shared commitment to expanding partnership frameworks that contribute to sustainable economic and political collaboration.
Al-Yamahi expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s consistent support on issues central to the Arab world’s agenda, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian question. He noted that such solidarity reinforces mutual trust and deepens political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Arab states.
The Arab Parliament president further emphasized that enhanced cooperation and dialogue among the Arab Parliament, the Milli Majlis, and the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement provide a robust institutional foundation for broadening interparliamentary relations. He highlighted the importance of these platforms in fostering constructive engagement and addressing pressing global challenges.
Al Yamahi praised Speaker Gafarova’s role in organizing and advancing the work of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, describing it as a significant forum for international parliamentary diplomacy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al Yamahi invited Sahiba Gafarova to address a forthcoming plenary session of the Arab Parliament, signaling continued efforts to deepen parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Arab world.
