Arayik Harutyunyan reveals details of Ganja bombing during court hearing
Arayik Harutyunyan, former "president" of the self-styled “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic”, has revealed that he received information about the bombing of Ganja from Onik Gasparyan, the Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
Harutyunyan made the remarks on March 14 while responding to questions from the prosecutors representing the state, during which he discussed the rocket attack on the civilian infrastructure and peaceful population of Ganja. According to Harutyunyan, Gasparyan had informed him about the bombing of the Ganja airport during a conversation, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
"The Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces was Onik Gasparyan. I had a conversation with the Chief of Staff. He informed me about the strike on the airport in Ganja. After that, I had no further contact with him," Harutyunyan stated during his testimony.
The bombing of Ganja, which resulted in significant damage to civilian infrastructure and casualties among the city's peaceful population, has been one of the focal points of the trial, where Armenian citizens are facing accusations of committing serious crimes, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and terrorism. The trial continues with charges related to aggressive warfare, genocide, violations of war laws and customs, and other grave offenses.
The court proceedings are part of a broader legal effort to hold those responsible for the military aggression against Azerbaijan and the destruction of civilian life and property during the Karabakh conflict.
