A joint tactical exercise Araz-2024 with the participation of special forces of the Azerbaijani Army's Ground Forces and Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is being held near the village of Aslanduz in Iran's Ardabil province.
Before the start of the exercise, the sequence of stages and episodes of the exercise and safety rules were defined at a command and staff meeting with the participation of high-ranking members of the Azerbaijani and Iranian delegations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
Then the opening ceremony of the joint tactical exercise Araz-2024 was held, after which the servicemen inspected the exercise's site.
Prior to the Araz-2024 drills, on November 4, the naval forces of Azerbaijan and Iran held AZIREX-2024 joint tactical exercises in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea.
During the exercises held to strengthen Azerbaijani-Iranian military cooperation, tasks were carried out to conduct shipwreck rescue operations, provide medical assistance to shipwreck victims, conduct search operations and ensure the safety of ships. All the tasks set in the exercises were carried out by the military sailors with high professionalism.
Azerbaijan's Navy contributed two ships and over 100 personnel to AZIREX-2024. This exercise aimed to enhance the interoperability and readiness of Azerbaijani and Iranian forces in joint maritime operations, particularly in critical search and rescue procedures. The training will serve to strengthen maritime cooperation, ensuring coordinated efforts in safeguarding lives and managing incidents in the Caspian Sea.
