Armenia holds rally near Russian embassy to support bilateral ties

20 September 2022 14:49

A rally is being held in Armenia's capital Yerevan near the Russian embassy in Yerevan to support bilateral relations.

A declaration of support was handed over to the diplomatic mission employees, Caliber.Az reports on September 20 referring to the Armenian media.

"The events and activity that can cast doubt on Armenia-Russia relations have recently occurred. We don't want to let this happen. We are here to assess Russia's assistance, which is obvious in deeds, rather than in words. Russia does not give false promises, but works to strengthen Armenia's security," Chairman of the Constitutional Rights Union party, member of the executive committee of Strong Armenia with Russia - for the Sake of a New Union movement Hayk Babukhanyan said.

The rally participants noted that Russia and Armenia resisted common challenges for 300 years. They also announced attempts by "incomprehensible elements" to force Armenia to withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).

An appeal was made to immigrants from Ukraine, who from time to time hold rallies near the embassy, not to interfere in Armenia-Russia relations.

Earlier, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Armenia on September 17-19, 2022 and held talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan. During the visits, some protests were held urging Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO.
