Armenia, Iran hold talks on consolidating peace between Baku and Yerevan
Secretary-General of Armenia’s Foreign Ministry Davit Karapetyan met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh to discuss the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.
As reported by Caliber.Az with reference to Armenian media, the meeting was confirmed by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their discussions, the two officials reviewed the current regional situation and underlined the strong political dialogue maintained between Yerevan and Tehran. Both sides highlighted the broad and dynamic nature of their bilateral agenda and emphasised the importance of further strengthening cooperation in the areas of economy, culture, and education.
Karapetyan and Khatibzadeh also exchanged views on prospects for closer collaboration within the frameworks of the “Yerevan Dialogue” and “Tehran Dialogue” conferences. They additionally discussed expanding institutional cooperation between Iran’s Institute for Political and International Studies and Armenia’s Diplomatic School.
The talks also covered recent developments in the region. Both parties underscored the significance of consolidating and institutionalising the peace established following the Washington agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
