Armenia must amend Constitution to remove territorial claims to Azerbaijan, Türkiye MP says
Territorial claims against Azerbaijan and Türkiye should be removed from the Constitution of Armenia, said Shamil Ayrim, Turkish MP, head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group.
Ayrim highlighted the necessity of the amendment for advancing regional peace, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
The Turkish MP mentioned that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan appears to support the opening of Zangazur corridor and the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. However, he noted that there are internal forces obstructing these efforts.
"Pashinyan seems cautious about signing a peace agreement. For this agreement to be realized, several conditions need to be met, including the exclusion of territorial claims against Azerbaijan and Türkiye from the Armenian Constitution. This is a crucial step," Ayrim emphasized.
