Armenia sees decline in number of permanent residents
The permanent resident population living in Armenia decreased by 2,300 people over the past year.
“As of April 1, 2022, the number of the permanent residents of our country was 2,961,600 people, while for the same period last year the population was 2,963,900 people. On the other hand, it should be noted that in some regions of Armenia, on the contrary, the population increased due to various movements,” the Yerevan-based Zhoghovurd newspaper quotes the Statistical Committee of Armenia as saying on June 8, Caliber.Az informs.
It is reported that the population of Yerevan has decreased by 400 people. If on April 1 of the previous year the population of the capital was 1,093,600 people, for the same period of the current year it stood at 1,093,200 people.
“On the other hand, the population decreased in five regions of Armenia. The population of the Kotayk region has remained unchanged (251,400 people),” the statistical data says.
