Armenia, US move to comprehensive strategic partnership, says FM
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced that Armenia and the United States have upgraded their bilateral relationship, elevating it from a strategic partnership to what he described as a “comprehensive strategic partnership.”
Speaking on May 26 after talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Mirzoyan stated: “We have elevated the strategic partnership with the US to a new level by renaming it a comprehensive strategic partnership.”
According to Armenian media reports cited by Caliber.Az, the minister outlined a series of agreements underpinning this expanded cooperation. He revealed that the two sides had initialled an interstate agreement related to the TRIPP project, marking a new phase in bilateral engagement.
“Today, we were able to initial an interstate agreement on the TRIPP project with the US. Earlier, we also signed agreements on AI and semiconductors, nuclear energy, and have just signed a new document on rare earth metals,” Mirzoyan said.
He emphasised that the latest agreement broadens cooperation in high-tech sectors, particularly artificial intelligence, while also covering other strategically significant areas.
Mirzoyan stressed that the developments are advantageous for Armenia, underscoring their long-term impact. “The new document is clearly beneficial for Armenia and opens unprecedented opportunities,” he said.
