Armenia-US partnership bolsters reforms, security
Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan has met with US Ambassador to the country Kristina Kvien to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing reforms.
The meeting underscored the robust strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States, with both sides emphasizing the pivotal role of recent high-level discussions in Washington, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Minister Sargsyan expressed profound gratitude for the United States’ steadfast support in bolstering Armenia’s police reform initiatives, which have already produced measurable outcomes. She highlighted the importance of continued collaboration in modernizing the nation’s law enforcement framework. In response, Ambassador Kvien reaffirmed the US’ commitment to its strategic alliance with Armenia, commending the productive synergy between Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the US Embassy.
The discussions built on the momentum of meetings held in Washington on August 8, which opened new pathways for enhanced cooperation. Key areas of focus included innovative joint programs aimed at strengthening Armenia’s patrol services, criminal police, and police protection units. Additionally, both parties explored advancements in the Interior Ministry’s educational complex, with an emphasis on modernizing training curricula.
A significant point of discussion was the establishment of a cutting-edge cyber laboratory, a move designed to enhance Armenia’s capabilities in addressing cyber threats. Plans to retrain personnel within the police protection units were also addressed, signaling a commitment to elevating operational standards. The meeting further covered a range of mutual interests, reflecting the multifaceted nature of the Armenia-US partnership.
