Armenian diplomat walks out after failed attempt to exclude Western Azerbaijan Community rep from OSCE event
At an OSCE event on "The Role of Civil Society in Ensuring Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law", a dispute arose between a delegation from the Western Azerbaijan Community and an Armenian delegation.
At the beginning of the meeting, an employee of the Armenian Embassy in Austria tried to prevent the participation of Kamal Jafarov, MP, Deputy Chairman of the Youth Council of the Western Azerbaijan Community, as a representative of the community, according to Report.
The Armenian diplomat then voiced a letter of protest, which he claimed came from official Yerevan, but as the provocation failed, he left the meeting room.
In his response, Jafarov said that the Western Azerbaijan Community has no territorial claims in Armenia: "Our organisation is a non-governmental organisation, and you know very well that an NGO cannot have territorial claims to any state."
He emphasised that Armenians have been deporting Azerbaijanis from their native lands for centuries: "They pursued a policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis. Now they want to silence us, but they will not be able to achieve this".
