Political scientist and the head of the South Caucasus Research Centre, Farhad Mammadov, has reacted on his Telegram channel to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's statement in the European Parliament on January 24.

"The Armenian foreign minister stated that there are 'two options for opening the [Khankendi-Lachin] road' and that representatives of the UN, OSCE or some other international organisations should be sent [to the area].

Regarding the military option [of tackling the situation], Mirzoyan probably means that other countries, not Armenia, should use force. Or does he mean Armenia?! Well, well...

On the subject of sending an international mission from an international organisation, we can suggest the Organisation of Turkic States [OTS]. Why not?! The OTS also has a NATO member - Türkiye. After all, Armenia is doing well with NATO, and Mirzoyan met with Stoltenberg. The OTS also has two Armenian allies in the CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organisation] and the EAEU [Eurasian Economic Union]: Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The OTS, as an observer, also has an EU member - Hungary, with which Armenia is restoring diplomatic relations. So it fits in all respects...

Mirzoyan said that "there are two theoretical options to remove the blockade of the Lachin Corridor. Military or diplomatic. Armenia is committed to the second option, but this is possible only in case of decisive intervention by the international community, intense pressure on Azerbaijan, and tangible actions in that direction".
