Armenian forces fire on Azerbaijani Army positions from Gorus direction
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has reported that positions of the Azerbaijani Army came under fire from Armenian forces on the evening of April 9.
Between 19:25 and 19:35 local time, units of the Armenian armed forces opened intermittent fire using small arms from positions located near the Khaznavar and Khanazakh settlements in the Gorus region. The gunfire was directed at Azerbaijani positions situated along the border in the corresponding area, Caliber.Az informs via the ministry.
In response, Azerbaijani Army units stationed in the region took adequate retaliatory measures to suppress the enemy fire and prevent further escalation.
No casualties or material damage have been reported on the Azerbaijani side at this time.
This latest incident marks a continuation of ceasefire violations along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, despite ongoing efforts to normalise relations between the two countries following the 2020 and 2023 conflicts.
