Armenian MP's provocation foiled at PACE meeting

14 December 2022 11:10

The meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has been held in Paris.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov and member of the delegation Asim Mollazade attended the sitting on December 13, Caliber.Az reports, quoting Azertag.

Several issues were discussed and decisions were taken within the meeting’s agenda.

During the session, the head of the Armenian delegation, R. Rubenyan, made the traditional slanderous speech against Azerbaijan.

He attempted to mislead PACE members by distorting the essence of the recent processes on the Shusha-Lachin road. However, Samad Seyidov and Asim Mollazade prevented his attempts, saying that the Armenian side was continuing to commit provocations in territory the world recognizes as Azerbaijani.

The Azerbaijani MPs stressed that Armenia uses the Lachin-Khankendi road for military purposes, in particular, to transport mines and looted natural resources. They noted that illegal mineral extraction and environmental pollution continued on the Azerbaijani territory. The MPs also highlighted that Armenia's illegal economic activities in Azerbaijani territory are in flagrant violation of the requirements of international conventions, thus Armenia is not complying with the bilateral agreement and is deliberately obstructing monitoring.

Azerbaijani MPs also stressed that Russian peacekeepers have been treated inadequately to the members of non-governmental organisations, volunteers and journalists from Azerbaijan.
