Armenian PM briefs Macron on peace agreement reached with Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on August 11 to update him on recent diplomatic developments.
Pashinyan outlined the outcomes of the negotiations held on August 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C., highlighting the initialing of the “Agreement on Peace and Inter-state Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.” He also informed Macron about the joint application submitted to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
The prime minister emphasised progress on unblocking regional communications, underscoring that this would be carried out based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity.
Additionally, Pashinyan introduced the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project, which aims to promote stability and development in the region.
Pashinyan stressed that the peace agreement opens new avenues for investment in Armenia and the broader region. Both leaders expressed their commitment to maintaining active political dialogue on bilateral and international issues.
"Prime Minister Pashinyan also thanked President Macron for France’s continued support in these efforts," the PM's office said.
