Armenian PM calls ex-minister for debate
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called former Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan for a debate.
At a parliament meeting, Pashinyan invited Oskanyan to come to the parliamentary commission on the 44-day war and discuss the negotiation process that preceded the war, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
According to Pashinyan, those who accuse him of certain actions and the impending war can detail the steps they would take if they were in his shoes.
"During the years of Vardan Oskanyan's tenure as minister, the Madrid principles were presented, which only aggravated this ‘mess’ in the negotiations. Let him explain what he intended to advise me in 2018 or 2019," Pashinyan said.
The prime minister said that he intends to appear before the commission to investigate the causes and circumstances of the 44-day war. According to Pashinyan, Oskanyan could also come there (he had previously refused to participate in the meeting – ed.), and they would discuss the situation together. The prime minister himself stressed that he will not and does not want to walk away from responsibility.
Armenian media note that former Oskanyan has repeatedly criticized the course of the country's authorities.
