Armenian PM confirms upcoming visit to Türkiye for talks with President Erdogan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has officially confirmed that he will soon travel to Türkiye for a high-level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Speaking during a press briefing, Pashinyan stated that the visit will include the release of a joint statement, the contents of which are currently under wraps due to prior agreements between the two sides, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"A joint statement is planned for the public on the agenda of the visit. According to the agreements, the items of the statement cannot be disclosed prematurely," the Prime Minister said.
According to Armenian media, citing a senior diplomatic source, the planned visit will focus on discussions surrounding Armenia’s bilateral relations with both Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
A key item on the agenda is said to be the ongoing efforts to reach a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku. Other regional matters are also expected to be raised during the talks.
Earlier, journalists reached out to the Armenian prime minister’s spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, for confirmation or comment, but she did not answer calls.
The forthcoming visit follows a phone conversation between Pashinyan and Erdoğan on June 5, during which the two leaders exchanged views on Armenian-Turkish relations and regional developments.
