Armenian prime minister concerned about corruption in country
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said at a meeting of the Armenian government that the fight against corruption should not fall off the agenda of priority tasks.
According to him, it is much said that after 2018 Armenia recorded great progress in the fight against corruption, but after that, the process slowed down or stopped, Caliber.Az reports.
"One should take into account that the more progress you record, the more difficult further progress becomes. Because in the beginning, you can make a leap only through political will, but then you need purely institutional work," Pashinyan said.
And it, according to him, should continue, not fall off the agenda. The government's will to fight corruption, according to Pashinyan, has not decreased since 2018, only strengthened.
The Prime Minister paid special attention to the state procurement process. He noted that members of the Cabinet should not put much trust in the reports that reach them.
"You report to me, someone else reports to you, someone else reports to them. We should check important projects ourselves," Pashinyan said.
Earlier, Armenia's Investigative Committee reported the detention of 7 people - after searches in the country's Economy Ministry. These persons, by prior conspiracy, abused their official powers. Among them are Ani Ispiryan, Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia, and Ani Gevorgyan, the wife of Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan's brother.
