Armenian wrestler Tsarukyan punches opponent in revenge for "unfair" moves VIDEO
A massive fight erupted moments after a wrestling match came to an end when Armenian-Russian mixed martial artist Arman Tsarukyan slammed his American opponent while both were still on the mat.
The No. 2-ranked UFC lightweight contender set off a large-scale brawl at the RAF 6 freestyle wrestling event in Arizona, according to US media reports.
Tsarukyan appeared to be winning his match against Georgio Poullas, but before the result was officially declared, he suddenly threw himself onto his opponent after time had expired and began landing punches. Within seconds, more than a dozen people rushed onto the mat — some attempting to separate the fighters, others appearing to escalate the confrontation.
Additional scuffles reportedly broke out in the crowd, where spectators had been chanting "USA" in support of Poullas. The chaos eventually subsided after three-time UFC title challenger Colby Covington escorted Poullas backstage.
According to several sports outlets, Poullas had been "a bit more physical than is allowed" during the three-round contest, reportedly slapping Tsarukyan several times. That "unfair" conduct may have triggered the Armenian fighter’s forceful reaction once the match concluded.
It is the latest controversial incident involving Tsarukyan. Ahead of UFC 300 in 2024, he was seen punching a fan, and he allegedly broke New Zealand fighter Dan Hooker’s nose with a head-butt during weigh-ins last November.
