Armenians destroy Greek church in Azerbaijan's Kalbajar
Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Khalaf Khalafov, has said that during the period of Armenian occupation, Azerbaijani cities and villages were massively destroyed in the once-occupied lands, including the national cultural and historical heritage of the people of Azerbaijan and other countries.
His remarks came during a speech at an event dedicated to the National Day of Greece in Baku on March 28, per APA.
According to him, also during this period, Greek churches in the village of Mehmana in Kalbajar were destroyed by the Armenians, and there was an attempt to present them as Armenian churches.
Khalafov noted that the village of Mehmana in the Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan was inhabited by Greeks about 200 years ago.
He added that as a result of the glorious victory of Azerbaijan in the Patriotic War and the liberation of territories, which were under occupation for almost 30 years, an opportunity had surfaced for lasting peace and stability in the region.
