Azerbaijan, ADB strengthen renewable energy partnership Photo
On March 13, Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with Sunniya Durrani-Jamal, the country director for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Shahbazov expressed satisfaction with the long-standing cooperation with the ADB in the energy sector, Caliber.Az reports per Ministry of Energy.
The ADB's support in renewable energy, particularly solar power and the "Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor" projects, was highly appreciated. Priority issues on the energy agenda were discussed.
The parties also covered the progress and future plans for building "green energy" infrastructure connecting Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. This includes fibre-optic components (FOC), the production and transmission of offshore wind energy, and the development of coastal infrastructure.
In addition, Shahbazov and Durrani-Jamal discussed an upcoming meeting involving the three countries and the ADB regarding the "Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor" project under the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) and the Green Energy Advisory Council.
The potential for cooperation with the ADB in various areas, including small-scale renewable energy projects and the modernisation of networks, was also evaluated. The current status of cooperation on the decarbonisation project in the heating sector was reviewed.
Furthermore, the exchange of views included trends in the development of the gas sector and prospects for expanding the Southern Gas Corridor.
