Azerbaijan, Algeria explore new avenues for cooperation As FM Bayramov welcomes new envoy
On September 12, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov welcomed Zakiya Igil, the newly appointed Algerian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, to discuss the future of bilateral relations and regional dynamics.
The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Algeria, as well as addressing regional and global issues, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Bayramov highlighted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and emphasized the need to utilize political consultations to strengthen ties in various areas, including economy, trade, energy security, and humanitarian efforts.
The Minister stressed the importance of continuing mutual support and partnership within regional and international organisations, in particular the UN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Bayramov also informed the interlocutor about the current situation in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War, the realities and challenges of the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and rehabilitation works in the territories liberated from occupation, the normalisation and peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The diplomat expressed appreciation for Algeria's support of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty during both the conflict and the subsequent recovery period.
