The Azerbaijan Army held a series of events on February 2 to commemorate the Day of Azerbaijani Youth, according to a plan approved by Minister of Defence Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.
The ceremonies began with a minute of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, Caliber.Az reports via the Defence Ministry.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was also performed.
Speakers at the events emphasised that Youth Day is celebrated with solemnity across Azerbaijan and highlighted the role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in establishing the country’s state youth policy.
Officials noted that this policy continues under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Cultural performances were held as part of the observances. Creative teams from the Army Ideological and Cultural Centre named after Hazi Aslanov, the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Centre, and local district cultural centres performed for military personnel.
