Azerbaijan army holding military pentathlon championship PHOTO/VIDEO
The Azerbaijan Army servicemen are holding a military pentathlon championship under the 2023 training plan approved by Azerbaijan Defence Minister, Col Gen Zakir Hasanov.
At the opening ceremony held at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev, the memories of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, were honoured with observing a minute of silence. It was followed by the performance of the national anthem of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Defence Ministry.
During the ceremony, the speakers wished success to the participants and noted that the physical wellness of the Azerbaijan Army’s servicemen is continuously in the spotlight.
As many as 56 servicemen from 10 teams representing types of troops and formations will compete for individual and team championship. The servicemen will test their skills in overcoming the obstacle course, 200-metre gun shooting, grenade launching, 8-km cross and swimming races.
The championship will last until May 20.
