Baku open to expanding economic cooperation with Yerevan, says top diplomat
Azerbaijan is open to expanding trade and economic cooperation with Armenia beyond the current supply of petroleum products, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told a year-end press conference.
FM Bayramov noted that bilateral trade relations between the two countries are effectively being established from the ground up, adding that Baku is ready to review and consider proposals put forward by Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“The proposal for the export of petroleum products was accepted, and deliveries have already begun. We see scope for expanding trade ties,” the foreign minister said.
He also acknowledged that the reaction within Armenia to imports from Azerbaijan has been mixed.
“On the one hand, the exports were welcomed positively; on the other, they triggered a certain level of dissatisfaction. There are also voices within Armenian society calling for opposition to supplies from Azerbaijan,” Bayramov added.
