Uzbek lawmakers call for accelerated investment and cooperation with Azerbaijan
Committees of Uzbekistan’s Senate and Legislative Chamber have convened a joint session to review the implementation of bilateral agreements with Azerbaijan and to discuss ways to accelerate joint investment and cooperation projects.
According to Caliber.Az, citing the Senate of Uzbekistan, the meeting brought together senators, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, as well as heads of relevant ministries and agencies, associations, and other organisations.
During the session, officials from key ministries and agencies briefed participants on the progress made in implementing agreements reached between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the bilateral documents signed by the two sides, and the approved road maps guiding cooperation.
The discussions placed particular emphasis on expanding trade and economic relations and speeding up the execution of investment and cooperation projects. Special attention was given to ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of joint initiatives in transport and logistics, energy, industry, agriculture, and other sectors.
Participants also underscored the importance of strengthening coordination between responsible ministries and agencies, jointly addressing existing challenges, and intensifying parliamentary oversight of the fulfilment of agreed commitments.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a set of decisions and recommendations was adopted with the aim of ensuring the practical effectiveness and full implementation of the agreements reached between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
The Senate noted that implementing these recommendations would contribute to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and improving the efficiency of interaction between state bodies and institutions of the two countries.
