UN-Habitat hails Baku’s White City as global example for urban transformation
Baku’s White City stands as a notable example of successful urban reconstruction and transformation, said Anacláudia Rossbach, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat).
Rossbach noted that the White City development is expected to attract strong interest from visitors attending the World Urban Forum (WUF13), describing it as a destination many participants would be eager to explore, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She also praised Baku as a beautiful city, emphasizing that its experience offers valuable lessons in urban planning and regeneration for international delegates.
“What makes Baku particularly interesting is that many of today’s urban challenges are reflected in the experience of this city and of Azerbaijan,” Rossbach added, highlighting the city’s relevance to global discussions on sustainable urban development.
