Azerbaijan demands parity with Armenia in EU aid, highlights security measures
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov called for parity in European financial assistance and outlined the country’s measures regarding unauthorized visitors to its territories, as he addressed a year-end press conference.
Baku calls for equal financial support from EU
FM Bayramov emphasized that if the European Peace Facility (EPF) provides financial aid to Armenia, an equivalent amount should be allocated to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“This issue was raised by Azerbaijan after the fund began disbursing financial assistance to Armenia,” he noted.
Highlighting international cooperation, the minister added: “Hungary has taken the most active position among countries regarding financial aid to Azerbaijan. As a result, a decision was made to provide Azerbaijan with €10 million through other structures for demining efforts.”
Bayramov further stressed that Baku is aware of the EPF’s initiative to allocate €20 million to Armenia. “If such financial support is granted to Armenia, it should also be provided to Azerbaijan in an equal amount,” he said.
Over two thousand individuals on Azerbaijan’s blacklist
Turning to territorial security, Bayramov revealed that more than two thousand people are currently included in Azerbaijan’s “blacklist” for illegally visiting its territories during periods of occupation.
“Individuals who visited Azerbaijani territories during the occupation without official permission from Baku have been added to the blacklist. Those who formally addressed the issue and apologized have been removed and may now enter Azerbaijan. Those who have not apologized remain on the list,” the minister explained.
He added that the blacklist spans incidents over the past 30 years, reflecting Azerbaijan’s efforts to monitor unauthorized visits to its territories and maintain sovereignty.
