Ukraine honors Azerbaijan’s victory with limited-edition stamp
Ukraine has issued a commemorative postage stamp marking the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory, as well as the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty.”
The stamp has been released in several versions by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine. Its design features the regions of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation alongside a map of the republic rendered in the colors of the national flag, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The total print run of the commemorative stamp is limited to 1,000 copies. The stamps are scheduled to enter circulation at the end of January next year.
Victory Day, observed on November 8, commemorates Azerbaijan’s triumph in the 44-day war of 2020 and the liberation of Shusha — the decisive turning point in the conflict. The city’s liberation on November 8, 2020, after nearly three decades of occupation, was described as the “pinnacle” of Azerbaijan’s counter-offensive.
Following the war, which began on September 27, 2020, and ended with a trilateral ceasefire signed on November 10, 2020, by Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, President Ilham Aliyev declared November 8 as Victory Day. The date symbolises the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and national unity.
Each year, the anniversary is marked with official ceremonies, military parades and celebrations in Baku, Shusha, Khankendi and other liberated regions, alongside cultural and sporting events such as the “Victory Run” in the capital.
