Azerbaijan assumes CICA chairmanship at ministerial meeting
The 7th Ministerial Council meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) convened online on December 17, with 27 member countries, 3 observer states, and 8 international partner organizations participating, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
During the session, the chairmanship of CICA for the 2024-2026 period was officially transferred from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov outlined the priorities that Azerbaijan intends to pursue during its upcoming term as chair.
CICA Secretary-General Kairat Sarybay subsequently delivered a report on the organization's activities from 2020 to 2024, reflecting on Kazakhstan’s chairmanship.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council of Ministers adopted several important documents. These included a statement marking the 25th anniversary of the Declaration on the Principles Guiding Relations among the CICA Member States, a resolution on implementing confidence-building measures, an updated catalogue of these measures, and drafts for the establishment of a partnership network among leading universities in CICA member countries.
