Azerbaijan, Astrakhan Region strengthen ties amid Caspian cooperation talks PHOTO
Prime Minister of the Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, has met with Igor Babushkin, Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan Region, who is currently visiting the country, to discuss bilateral cooperation.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the meeting underscored the productive cooperation between Azerbaijan and various regions of the Russian Federation, including Astrakhan, Caliber.Az reports.
The discussions highlighted significant potential for expanding trade, economic, and investment ties, as well as broadening collaboration in transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian initiatives, and educational projects. Notably, the Astrakhan Region is contributing to the construction of a kindergarten in Azerbaijan’s Gubadli district.
Special attention was given to the development of the international North-South transport corridor, along with the pressing issue of the declining water levels in the Caspian Sea, a matter of shared concern for regional sustainability and economic activity.
Earlier today, a delegation led by Governor Babushkin visited the Alley of Honors, where they paid tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of independent Azerbaijan, by laying flowers at his grave.
The delegation also honored the legacy of prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva with a floral tribute at her resting place.
