Azerbaijan, Australia affirm friendly ties, eye closer legislative cooperation
On the sidelines of the 11th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20), held in Cape Town, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, met with Sue Lines, President of the Senate of Australia, to discuss avenues for strengthening inter-parliamentary and bilateral cooperation.
The sides underscored the importance of the P20 Summit as a valuable platform for fostering dialogue on global challenges and enhancing multilateral engagement. In this context, they emphasized the potential for deepening collaboration between Azerbaijan and Australia through sustained parliamentary diplomacy, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Despite the geographical distance separating their nations, both parties affirmed the friendly nature of Azerbaijani-Australian relations and expressed a mutual commitment to expanding bilateral ties. They noted that the strong political foundation between the two countries creates favorable conditions for more dynamic inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Speaker Gafarova and her Australian counterpart welcomed the growing interaction between their respective legislative bodies, viewing it as a catalyst for broader cooperation between the two nations.
They also held a constructive exchange on matters of mutual interest, reflecting the shared values and aspirations of their nations on the international stage.
