Azerbaijan, Bavaria eye deeper trade ties in Munich Security Conference talks

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Bavarian Minister for European and International Affairs Eric Beisswenger during the Munich Security Conference to discuss the strengthening of trade and economic ties between Azerbaijan and Bavaria.

The discussions centred on the prospects for regional cooperation, with a particular emphasis on enhancing economic and trade relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry's message on X.

The meeting was part of broader efforts to explore ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

The Munich Security Conference, which has begun amidst significant geopolitical developments, has drawn attention due to several key events, including the arrival of a new US administration, the start of a new European legislative cycle, and Germany’s forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially opened the conference, with discussions chaired by Christoph Heusgen. Topics under deliberation include global governance, democratic resilience, climate security, regional conflicts, and the future of transatlantic relations, with a special focus on Europe's role in the global arena.

In addition to the main conference, around 200 side events and public outreach activities have been organized. One noteworthy event was the 4th No Money for Terror Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing, led by German Finance Minister Jörg Kukies, which took place just ahead of the primary discussions.

The conference will conclude with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg assuming the role of Chair, succeeding Christoph Heusgen.
