Azerbaijan, Brazil discuss prospects for cooperation
On February 8, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with a delegation led by the head of the Brazil-Azerbaijani Friendship Group in the Federal Senate of Brazil, Senator Nelsinho Trad, who is on a visit to the country to observe the snap presidential elections.
During the meeting the sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil, plans for expansion of political contacts and mechanism of bilateral consultations, Caliber.Az reports.
The importance of preparation for the next meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Federal Republic of Brazil was pointed out.
Minister Bayramov emphasized the special significance of the early presidential elections, which for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan's independence coincided with the full restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in Azerbaijan this year, in terms of the development of bilateral relations, as well as the expansion of coordination with Brazil as a COP30 host country.
The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
