Azerbaijan briefs Turkmenistan on Iranian drone attack on Nakhchivan

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a phone conversation with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the country’s foreign minister, during which the Azerbaijani side informed Ashgabat about Iran’s drone attacks on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, cited by Caliber.Az, Bayramov provided his Turkmen counterpart with detailed information about the attack during the call.

The Azerbaijani foreign minister said the strikes represent a violation of the norms and principles of international law and warned that such actions contribute to increased tensions in the region. He emphasised that Baku expects Tehran to provide explanations regarding the attacks as soon as possible.

Meredov expressed concern over the situation.

The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interest, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
