Azerbaijan celebrating State Sovereignty Day

Azerbaijan is celebrating State Sovereignty Day on September 20.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has recently signed a decree establishing this new holiday. The document highlights that on September 20, 2023, the counter-terrorism operation aimed at preventing large-scale provocations in Azerbaijan's Karabakh economic region, disarming and withdrawing the remaining Armenian Armed Forces from Azerbaijani territories, and restoring Azerbaijan's constitutional order in these areas was successfully completed, Caliber.Az reports.

The Azerbaijani army fulfilled all its assigned tasks with remarkable professionalism during the operation, which lasted just 23 hours. As a result, on September 20, the full sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan was restored.
