Azerbaijan, Central Asian countries to create joint venture to export "green energy" to Europe
Azerbaijan's Deputy Energy Minister Orkhan Zeynalov took part in the first meeting of Central Asian energy ministers held in Astana, as well as in a trilateral meeting on the project to connect the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Zeynalov highlighted forthcoming global initiatives on green energy, including the "Energy Investment Forum of Central Asia and Azerbaijan," set to take place within the framework of COP29, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry.
The sides discussed the work done to create the green energy corridor "Azerbaijan-Central Asia-Europe" and further steps to be taken.
"A draft agreement on strategic partnership agreement in the field of development and transportation of green energy between the three countries has been agreed, as well as the terms of reference for the initial feasibility study of the project have been approved. The Italian company CESI was selected to prepare the feasibility study, and an agreement was reached on the establishment of a joint venture with the participation of the parties' national energy companies," the information said.
The ministry reported that at the end of the trilateral meeting a protocol on the project to connect the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was signed.
At the same time, Zeynalov held bilateral meetings with Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov during the visit.
