Azerbaijan chairs 3rd conf of NAM Parliamentary Network in Geneva
The 3rd conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement convened in Geneva, Switzerland, drawing participation from 53 delegations representing member states and international organizations.
Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Network led the event, Azertac reports.
Addressing the attendees, S. Gafarova expressed optimism about the conference's potential to significantly enhance the network's development and foster cooperation among member countries.
Emphasizing the conference's topic, "Revival of Parliamentary Activities in Combating Climate Change," she underscored the pressing need to address climate change as a paramount global challenge. Gafarova highlighted Azerbaijan's role as the host country for COP29, underscoring its commitment to climate action.
The conference concluded with the adoption of the Geneva Declaration, outlining key commitments and priorities for member states in combating climate change and strengthening parliamentary engagement.
