Azerbaijan, Chile hold political consultations in Santiago, sign academic cooperation deal PHOTO
A delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov visited Chile on May 6–7, where the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries was held in Santiago.
The Azerbaijani delegation held talks with Chilean counterparts headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Patricio Torres, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During the consultations, both sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations, covering political, economic, humanitarian, energy, cultural, tourism and other areas of cooperation. The parties also expressed mutual support for strengthening institutional ties aimed at promoting trade, business and investment between the two countries.
A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on academic cooperation between ADA University and Chile’s “Andrés Bello” Diplomatic Academy.
The Azerbaijani delegation also held a meeting with Chile’s Deputy Foreign Minister for International Economic Affairs Paula Estevez Weinstein, where discussions focused on expanding economic and trade cooperation and advancing joint initiatives.
In addition, meetings were held with senior members of Chile’s National Congress, including Vice President of the Senate Ivan Moreira and Foreign Relations Committee Chair Manuel José Ossandón, as well as Rojo Edwards, newly appointed head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, and other lawmakers.
The discussions highlighted the importance of developing parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
As part of the visit, Elnur Mammadov delivered a presentation on “Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan” at the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy.
