Azerbaijan, China have historic opportunity to raise bilateral ties to higher level
Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of China in Azerbaijan Ding Tao has said that Azerbaijan and China received a historic opportunity to raise bilateral relations to a higher level.
Ding Tao made these remarks at an event on “Reassessment of the Azerbaijan-China relations: Way forward”, Report informs.
“China welcomes Azerbaijan’s international influence. We also support Azerbaijan in organising COP29. Today, huge work is underway to combine the One Belt, One Road initiative with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Our countries are cooperating in the field of alternative energy sources. Azerbaijan has also opened five trading houses in China. The trade turnover between the two countries reached a record high of $3.1 billion in 2023 which is an increase of 43 per cent,” he said.
To recap, Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year.
Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Baku and Yerevan agreed to support each other at some international venues. In a joint statement, Armenia said it would support Azerbaijan's bid to host the COP29 summit.
The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
