Azerbaijan, China sign contract to develop 100-MW solar power plant PHOTO
On November 12, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy, China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd, and SOCAR Green LLC signed a contract to assess, develop, and implement a 100 MW solar power plant project in Azerbaijan.
The signing took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Lyu Jun, Chairman of China Datang Corporation Ltd., Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Energy.
The contract establishes a company and a steering committee responsible for the project’s execution.
Officials highlighted that broad energy cooperation is a key priority in Azerbaijan-China relations, which have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, and noted the significance of agreements signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China.
The partnership with China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. also covers projects in 2 GW offshore wind energy, energy storage systems, and a Green Energy Corridor, as well as training and knowledge exchange programs for Azerbaijan’s energy specialists.
Discussions addressed technical and economic aspects of offshore wind and Green Energy Corridor projects, including turbine research, transport and installation, local equipment manufacturing, submarine cables, energy transmission, and system regulation.
