Azerbaijan-China trade turnover reaches $2.6 billion, official says

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China increased by 4.5% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2026, reaching $2.6 billion, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev has said at an event marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Mustafayev stated that currently 455 Chinese companies are operating across various sectors of Azerbaijan’s economy, including industry, agriculture, transport, construction, trade and services, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“Around 50 joint projects are being implemented between Azerbaijan and major Chinese companies across various sectors,” he noted.

He noted that Azerbaijan-China trade and economic cooperation is developing steadily and showing positive momentum.

“Consistent efforts are being made to further expand trade ties and promote Azerbaijani products on the Chinese market. An important role in this regard is played by the Azerbaijan Trade Representative Office, which has been operating in China since 2018, as well as six Azerbaijani trade houses established in different cities across the country,” the deputy minister added.

In his words, positive dynamics can also be observed in investment.

“Since 1995, the volume of direct investment from China into Azerbaijan has reached $976 million. At the same time, Azerbaijan’s total investment in China has reached $1.9 billion. The growing presence of Chinese companies in Azerbaijan’s economy is also an important indicator of the development of investment cooperation,” he remarked.
