Azerbaijan condemns UNICEF Yerevan office's "unacceptable" remarks
The head of the Azerbaijani office of UNICEF was invited to the Foreign Relations Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan on December 29, Caliber.Az sources report.
At the meeting, the representative of UNICEF was informed about the concerns of Baku over the unacceptable statements made by the head of the Yerevan office of UNICEF about the sovereign territory of another country. It was emphasized that the head of the UNICEF Yerevan office had exceeded his mandate and authority. The UNICEF office and the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan already recognized the erroneousness of the actions of the head of the UNICEF Yerevan bureau.
The UNICEF Yerevan office issued a statement on December 29 in which it noted that “the closure of the Lachin corridor affects children, limiting access to the basic services they need for survival, healthy growth and well-being.”
